Star Wars (20th Century Fox, 1978). Special Japanese Poster (11" X 20.25" unfolded, 6" X 11" folded). In 1980, George Lucas saw a gatefold poster for Star Wars in the 1978 Japanese "town mook" magazine - An Invitation to the Fantasia of Space SF Film. A "mook" served as a hybrid of books and magazines which prolonged shelf life at stores.

The art was by Ohrai Noriyoshi. Lucas liked it so much he commissioned Noriyoshi to do the international style artwork for The Empire Strikes Back. That made Noriyoshi famous world-wide. Here is that original poster that Lucas saw.

On the back is an image of the moon bus from 2001: A Space Odyssey. This poster rarely shows up. It shows some minor creasing & fold wear. This item is in the category "Entertainment Memorabilia\Movie Memorabilia\Posters\Originals-International\1970-79".
